We are trialing Refined Themes for JSD and were hoping to have a section which would show Open/Recent tickets. Are there any plan to add this type of module? I would assume it would not be too hard as it is just the Requests page, but in one section of one of the main landing pages rather than an entire page.

Thanks for contacting us. Do you mean having a module on the Help Center or a Service Desk/Portal, that would show any tickets that the logged on user is allowed to see (like their own or the ones that they are part of)?
There is currently no such module, but if this is what you mean, we could add a feature request in our issue tracker.
